This
Christmas, our daughter really wanted a bunny. We did a bit of
research and decided to get her one, who she named Bunny. We had no idea
we'd learn as much as we did. This little bunny was bought at a petshop,
and was way too young to be taken from his mom. We had no idea at the
time, but apparently this happens quite often. Rabbits make wonderful
pets, but many people don't realize what a commitment it is, and end up
returning them to shelters or just letting them go.
I am now a member of OREO (Ontario Rabbit Education Organization) which
is a great group of people trying to educate people on the do's and
don't's of rabbits. There is a lot of wrong information out there. Our
little Bunny has grown to be strong and healthy and is the light of our
life. He is fully litter trained and has the run of the living room. He
sits beside me on the couch and loves to have his ears scratched. My
daughter kisses him goodnight every night, and kisses him every morning.
He's a smart little guy and comes running at the sound of his treat bag,
and he somehow knows to run and hide when it's vet time. I guess we get
a certain look in our eyes!
He has brought joy to our home, and entertains us with something new
every day. I haven't for one moment regretted the day I brought home
this little grey floppy-eared fluff ball!
