I
first found my dear turtle Aero(Arrow) last summer while finishing up
some maintenance to an apartment complex's pool; before racking away the
leaf-net, I scooped up this small 'splashing' object... it was a Turtle!?
The spunky little thing was (literally) the size of a quarter, and was
hissing at me like sausage in the morning, and just fluttering around
in the skimmer... so I decided to get a bucket from my truck, filled it
with water, and took him home in it.
Fortunately, a co-worker was an animal farm keep, and assisted me in
learning about my new friend... along much research. Now Aero is a bit
larger (the size of my fist!) and more comfortable with me, and loves to
go crawl 'round the yard looking for some easy bugs or crickets...
mmmm. You know how, stereotypically, turtles are thought of as slow?
"Aero" got that name for his speed! If he sees a cricket around the
yard, he'll sneak up on it, and sprint it's little shelled agile body.
He also got the name "Arrow" for a future match, in which the next
turtle I will get to be named "Bow"... (Bow+Arrow)... too tacky, right?
And the sharp speed this shelled-sprinter can dart-either at bugs or at me!
