Kramer, the Pet of the Day
Name: Kramer
Age: One year old
Gender: Male
Kind: Abyssinian Guinea Pig
Home: Florissant, Missouri, USA

Meet Kramer, our lovable one-year old boy who we adopted on August 25, 2009. Judging by his size when we adopted him, we think that he was born sometime in July 2009, so he's our Fourth of July baby. We named him Kramer because his personality is as kooky as Cosmo Kramer from "Seinfeld," plus his every-which-way dark brown fur reminds us of Human Kramer's hairstyle!

While we still consider him the baby of our family, Kramer is now a big boy, weighing in at 3-1/2 pounds! His paws are so big that we can "shake hands" with him. Kramer is a very flirtatious and affectionate boy, for he loves nothing more than a chin rub and sitting on our lap every night. He always purrs contently whenever we give him a chin rub!

When it's veggie time, Kramer will scamper around his cage and then he will hop up onto his igloo roof. From up there he watches us intently until his veggies arrive. Or, he will flip his igloo upside down with his nose, as if to say, "Hurry up, Mom & Dad, I'm hungry!" His favorites are baby carrots and parsley. Parsley must be given in a small amount since too much of it may eventually cause bladder stones. Even though Kramer eats a balanced diet of guinea pig pellets, hay, and veggies three times daily, we still give him a small syringe of liquid vitamin C every day because he loves the taste of it, smacking his lips as he's drinking it from the syringe!

Kramer loves to play with his plastic toy rattle that has a little bell inside of it. He likes the sound of the bell because he will shake his toy while holding it with his teeth, and he will toss his toy around his cage until he gets tired. We quickly found out that Kramer's teeth could chew through the small rattle balls, so we had to find a thicker toy rattle that he could not bite through!

   Say Hi to Kramer!
