What A Nice Surprise
Tonight when I got home, I went to get my mail. I received a letter from the Office Of The Dean at UC Davis School Of Veterinary Medicine. I was wondering what it could be. I opened it up and there was a very nice letter about my Sunny. This is what it said:
Dear Ms. Dohner:
Adobe Animal Hospital has made a financial donation to the Companion Animal Memorial Fund in memory of Sunny. Having shared much of my life with companion animals and having spent many years caring for those of other people, I can appreciate what a loss Sunny's passing has been for you.
The Companion Animal Memorial Fund supports studies into the wide variety of problems that confront small domestic animals such as dogs, cats, birds, exotic pets, and others. The donation from Adobe Animal Hospital is a very positive and supportive gesture. It will assist our efforts to find answers for the diseases that cause pain and suffering among companion animals.
If you have questions about our program, please feel free to check the Center's web site at www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/ccah. You are also welcome to call (530)752-7024 or to write to me at the above address.
Sincerely,
Neils C. Pederson, DVM, PhD
Director

That's wonderful!
The vet who took care of Kiri during her final illness made a donation to a similar fund at the University of Illinois in her memory. And he wasn't even my regular vet (although that may change). When I read the card, I sobbed like a baby.

What a fine, lovely tribute to Sunny!

The Animal Welfare Association has made contributions on behalf of John Hancock, Moose , Bo Bo , Precious and Ebony Beau and have sent cards.
My Aunt Joan who loved Moose sent a nice letter that I have with his Montage.:cool::cool:
And My Vet and Assisstants have sent cards and let me know that there are Found and Stray Angels ashes around the Wishing Well,as nice a place for My Friends as possible.:love::love:
Its nice when Friends share your loss , esecially when they were Friends with Your Cats!!

What a great surprise! I'm learning more and more about the veterinary school at UC Davis every day these days, and the more I learn the more I really like them!
A little story - Robin has been having trouble with her calcium oxate crystals lately. Seeing as we were still in So Cal, I took her to another vet to get another opinion. After seeing her xrays and the amount of crystals in her ureters, this vet exclaimed "I have never seen this before! After checking with my associate vet, she says the only vet in the country that can do surgery to clear these crystals is Dr. Gregory from the veterinary school at UC Davis. You might want to contact him about her."
I was feeling pretty low about all this Friday night so I googled Dr. Gregory from UC Davis, found his email address and sent him an email about Robin. Today I got a really nice email back from him explaining a little more of what he does, telling me where he is and the name of his clinic and letting me know he would be happy to see Robin if we got her up that way. I was thrilled just to get a response, and then he was so friendly and helpful it almost made me cry knowing there were such good people out there who cared about a kitty they've never even met.
Anyway, just wanted to relate that little story about my recent experience with the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. What a great place!
