I already do adhere to all of the obvious precautions, so I'll probably just continue with what I've been doing, and maybe just change my password.

Rachel, keep in mind that there are not just kids sitting and trying passwords, and "guessing" - you need to pick a password that does not contain just a couple words that could be found in a dictionary - a piece of software can try all those programmatically. A good password has numbers and letters, and even characters like # or & or *@%... you get the idea. The more complicated it is, the better.
Thanks, I will.
Still not able to get my e-mail/facebook accts. back, yet.
Wanted to share this with everyone, if you ever get hacked on Facebook, you will get a message informing you. It just states the time that the password has been changed.

Geez, that sucks! How scary!
Hope you'll get your email/FB account back!
I was able to retrieve my gmail account, along with my Facebook account, today! This time, I changed my passwords, hopefully stronger enough now that I won't have a issue again like yesterday. Gmail did a very good job - They provided me information of what time the hacker got into my e-mail and pretty much recorded every activity. The IP address traced back to Nigeria, Africa.
Very scary!!!!
thatīs great.. I mean that you got everything back...
may I ask how they fixed this.. who did you contacted?.. was it through your alternate email provided to gmail?.. wanna know just in case ;)
and those Nigerians... first they wanna give you money then the hack your email..:p
A couple of weeks ago I logged into one of my gmail accounts that I use sporadically and it was loaded with spam and there was a header warning from Gmail saying my account may of been hacked and to change my password immediately. I did that, deleted the spam and I haven't had any problems since. None of my old emails were missing.
Glad you got it sorted out! :)
Basically, I had to set up another gmail account, so Facebook/Gmail could contact me about my original gmail account. So, once I was able to get my original account back, what Kim just said, a header showed up at the top of my inbox, in RED, warning me that my account may of been hacked and to change my password immediately, and so I did that. Gmail did give me a page of the IP addresses, showing me the strange activity that was going on, and it was all coming from Nigeria!
Once I got into my original email, I had to change everything in settings. Apparently this hacker set up a 'forwarding' address, so I had to delete that, etc. because my messages were not coming in Inbox, as it should be, and kept ending up in Trash. All fixed now! :)
After I read of all this, I changed my Google password. I made it so darn complicated, that I had to write it down until I get used to it.
Gmail is good about sorting out spam and sending it directly to the spam box, rather than the regular in box. Occasionally a spam gets thru, but not too often. You can tell without even reading them, that most are from Nigeria, and I just delete them en-masse.
Facebook has disabled my account again, I suppose to make sure that it was me, using it, so they keep asking me questions. It is taking forever to get my account back, even though it only has been a day. It is frustrating. :(
I had a couple of strange e-mails on my Hotmail account. They were names I didn`t know so I didn`t open them.
