The Rosie Tree Star (a true story)*more pics posted

Dear Pet Talk friends, I hope your Thanksgivng Day was wonderful, filled with all things you love best. I wrote this little poem about something that happened to me this morning, on the day after Thanksgiving. But first, I need to tell you about the Rosie tree – it is a little blue spruce that we planted on top of some of our Rosie’s ashes, after she went to the Rainbow Bridge three years ago. What happened today was so remarkable, I thought all day about how to share this with you. This evening, I wrote this poem:

    A Star in Rosie’s Tree

Thanksgiving Day was coming, we hurried with our tasks,
My husband hung some Christmas lights in a large blue spruce out back.

We then looked at the Rosie Tree, where Rosie’s ashes lay,
he said “I’ll try to decorate it, before the end of day”.

So many things, so little time, the tree stayed simply green
Thanksgiving Day was filled with friends; peaceful and serene.

On next November morning, the sun shone clear and bright,
The fog and cold had left behind a layer of frost that night.

I woke, jumped up, grabbed camera, “I’ll be right back” I said
to my bewildered husband, who lay drowsily in bed.

I snapped pictures of the weeds and leaves, now imagine my surprise
when I came up to the Rosie Tree -- tears welled up in my eyes…

Facing sunrise, there on Rosie’s Tree, a five-point star was hung,
Covered in ice crystals, made of web a spider spun.

Sun danced upon the crystals, this sign was clear to me,
“Don’t worry, Mom, I’m with you still”, t'was a gift from dear Rosie.

I took some pictures, marveling, at how the web was made,
and felt sweet Rosie with me as I stood above her grave.

The moment passed, the sun moved on, and left the tree in shade,
With gratitude and lifted heart, I ran inside and said

“You must come see what I just found on Rosie’s Tree this day”
I’ve never seen a web like this, not made in such a way”

My husband said “If I had hung the lights as planned last night,
It would have been destroyed for sure, and never seen the light.”

Don’t try to say that dogs don’t go to heaven when they’re gone,
For heaven sent this sign to me, and filled my heart with song.

    - I'll always love you, Rosie....thank you!
    Love, Mom

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Thanks! The web is gone today. It was truly a magical moment. I thought I'd post a few more of the pictures I took.
Here are the other photos of the frosty weeds:

That star is just amazing! I've never seen a frosted spiderweb before at all! Seen plenty dew-sparkled, but never frosted like that - a miraculous intervention!
