Woman Killed While Removing Dog From Road
Police: Woman's Dog Had Been Struck Moments Before

    POSTED: 10:34 am EST December 21, 2009
    UPDATED: 10:37 am EST December 21, 2009

BRAZIL, Ind. -- A western Indiana woman trying to remove her injured dog from a highway was struck and killed by a vehicle, police said.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department said a witness saw 25-year-old Roxanne Buescher of Brazil bent over in the roadway of Indiana 340 just before the vehicle came over a hill and hit her.

The department said her dog had been struck by a different vehicle before she was hit Saturday night just west of the city of Brazil.

The driver who struck Buescher told police that he didn't see her in the roadway and only felt his vehicle hit something.

No charges were filed against the driver.

    Oh how horrible.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

OMG. Poor woman, and poor driver! All I would have thought of is to get my injured furbaby off the road! She and that driver had no chance!

Prayers for her and her family. Tragic for everyone concerned, I hope the driver who hit the dog and drove off in the first place feels guilty to the end of his or her days.
