Snowshoeing with a dog -- Booties or Paw Wax?

J will be taking Treo out to Colorado next week and plans to go snowshoeing with her brother and his friend and dog... and she was wondering which would be better, actual booties or a paw wax, like Mushers Secret?

We tried booties on her at Petsmart tonight. Was rather funny watching her walk.. like she was marching. I'm sure she'd get used to them though..

Any other tips would be appreciated! =)

I found these awesome booties on the internet from some other dog friends. They are amazing. They keep snow out, but they allow the dog to feel the ground so they don't care that they have them on. They are disposable but reusable. They remind me of balloons actually. And they don't slip off as much as regular booties.

Everyone I have talked to loves them. So I'm definitely going to be buying some because Delta loooves the snow.

Thanks Monica! There's actually a store that carries them about 15 min from our house.. And I had suggested going there last night.. before I knew they had them. =) We'll go check them out.. sound pretty neat based on the site info. Only 16.99 for mediums at the store here.. much cheaper than the ones we were considering at Petsmart.. $45.99!! I like the whole disposable but reusable idea.. and that you get 12 in a package.

LOL I know, right?! They were Muttlucks I think. Suede soles.. velco straps... were nice.. but too much $$$!! About ready to head on over to the store. Will post a picture of Treetrunk in her booties if we get them. Probaby getting a new tree frog for Wasabi.. he told us he's been lonely ever since Kiwi left us.

With Monica's recommendation, we got the Pawz booties! Here Treo is in all her glory... ready to go play in the snow.

What she thinks of the boots:

    I absolutely LOVE the pictures

How is he doing with them?

I'd love to have some just for the fact that our back yard is a mud hole at the moment

We left them on her for about 20 min or so last night. Eventually she laid down and started to fall asleep. At first she kept licking them, but I guess she started to get used to them. She didnt ever try to chew them... which was rather surprising with her. She still walked like she was marching.. but I'm sure she'll get more used to them as time goes on.

The boots themselves are interesting. They're like extra large balloons... with a bigger opening. Kind of a two person job to get them on, but they pull right off... pretty neat really.
