my rabbit is totaly gorgeous ..with 1 problem

    hi,
my rabbit is a 4 yr old french lop cross with a lion headed rabbit named Elvis (after the king, elvis presley). but he doesnt have floppy ears. (as u can see in th picture attatched) he looks like a wild rabbit!!!!!!! ive had him from a baby, and he was so gentle wen he was a baby. but in the last few yrs he is realy mean!!
he attacks me for no reason at all and growls like a dog. it seems like he hates everyone!! the only one he is gentle to is his little frend, the gunipig!!! he is so gentle with th gunipig!! and treats him like a baby!!!!!!! awwwww!!!!!!!
does anyone else have a problem with a man-eating rabbit??????
i would be glad to hear off u!!!!!!!!
    love beki (littlecritter)

I would guess that you haven't had him neutered. Males can be overly aggressive when they don't get to do what comes naturally. Not only will neutering calm him down significantly but will also make the odor of his urine less strong, he will be more likely to use a litter box and he'll be safe from reproductive cancers. When his hormones are no longer driving him crazy he will calm down and become more people oriented. Left unneutered he may begin to spray and start peeing on your clothes, shoes, etc, because he is so desperate for a mate. It is a kindness to have him neutered to relieve those frustrations. Besides there is a terrible problem with unwanted, homeless bunnies and they are being put down by shelters at an incredibly high rate.... I'm sure you wouldn't want him to accidently father a family and then have them killed when no one wants them.

However be advised you must have a rabbit specialist vet do the surgery. Most vets don't bother to take the training for exotics and buns are senstive to and have problems with anesthesia.

I also see you are in the UK.... There is a rabbit chatroom called the Tufty Forum and these people are incredibly nice and very knowledgable. You might want to check them out.
    Good luck.

Agree with you Daisylover. Duncan used to be quite aggressive until he was neutered (Geri the guinea pig was quite relieved too!). Now he is an absolute angel, loves having his nose tickled and his ears nibbled and I know I can trim his nails tonight without losing a limb.

He recovered very quickly from the operation and I would strongly advise you to have Elvis neutered

Yup - the instant I read your post, I thought of all I'd heard about unneutered boy bunnies. Get him "fixed" (as we sometimes call neutering in the US) and he, and you, will both be happier!
