    Logic Puzzle!

I know we have a lot of smart people here that like solving puzzles. This one was given to me in my Logic class that I'm taking, it's tough but both Alexa and I were able to solve it. It's called Einstein's Puzzle and it is claimed that 98% of people are incapable of solving it.

Let us assume that there are five houses of different colors next to each other on the same road. In each house lives a man of a different nationality. Every man has his favorite drink, his favorite brand of cigarettes, and keeps pets of a particular kind.

    1. The Englishman lives in the red house.
    2. The Swede keeps dogs.
    3. The Dane drinks tea.
    4. The green house is just to the left of the white one.
    5. The owner of the green house drinks coffee.
    6. The Pall Mall smoker keeps birds.
    7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhills.
    8. The man in the center house drinks milk.
    9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
    10. The Blend smoker has a neighbor who keeps cats.
    11. The man who smokes Blue Masters drinks bier.
    12. The man who keeps horses lives next to the Dunhill smoker.
    13. The German smokes Prince.
    14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
    15. The Blend smoker has a neighbor who drinks water.

The question to be answered is: Who keeps fish?

I'll post the answer eventually The important thing to remember is that this is a puzzle NOT a riddle. So you actually have to solve for the answer.

    The German keeps fish.

That was fun! I sent off an answer by PM. I really did not want to be tempted to look at other people's answers and possibly be influenced by them.

Are you conducting your own research here, Laura? It will be interesting to find out if we get a higher success rate than 2%.

oh I love these kind of fun mind-blogging puzzles - I'll have to figure that one out later as I'm finishing up my fifth logic problems book..

how long did it took you both to figure out this one? just curious, I like to keep a record of how long I did each one.

I'm about as smart as a box of rocks... I didn't get it.
But a co worker of mine got it in NO time and she figured it was the German, she'll be happy to know she was correct!

sandragonfly I didn't time myself, but I think it took me somewhere around 10-15 minutes to solve it.

For those that want to know how to figure it out here is a guide that shows you how to solve it.

Laura didn't give any instructions! I just didn't want to see any possible answers. Purely a personal decision.
