Has anyone checked his teeth?
Don't let her give up on Max. Back when Rianne started refuse food (that's her in my avatar photo), the vet I took her to then had me force-feed her and they force-fed her when I had her stay there. It was a horrible experience for her and she acted like she was ready to die. I got a new vet, a holistic one, and they had Rianne willingly eating pieces of chicken after keeping her there only overnight. While the previous vet had sounded ready to give up on Rianne, she went on to live another two precious years. I agree with Mary (Medusa) - they could probably put Max on an appetite stimulant. I believe one reason my C.B. is eating okay is due to the liquid Prednisone he's on mainly for the inflammation in his face, but it helps appetite and he has gained weight.

He's doing fine. The antibiotic they gave must have slowly helped whatever it was. He's been eating A/D wet food to put weight back on. He's much more happier, frisky and hungry these days. Thanks.
