I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
I miss you
I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.
Fur as dark as the night.
Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Raven is back home for now and a sleepy puppy . She is scheduled for surgery on Friday. The specialist feels surgery has a very good chance of success. He has done several similar surgeries and had very good results most of the time. They will be taking out a somewhat wide area and perhaps some of the bone and teeth in that area.
He does not recommend radiation as he says recent studies have shown some negative effects such as osteomyelitis of the jaw, and feels it would not really add anything to the chance of success overall.
So the surgery will be done Friday morning and she hopefully will be able to come home on Saturday. Thank you so much for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

I'm so glad he's optomistic on the surgery. And no radiation means she'll be stronger to fight after the surgery. I know it's going to be a long week, Jess. Please give all your dogs hugs and lovin' from me but some extra ones to her. I know you're glad to have her back home with you. I'm glad she won't be away from you long, too. I feel somewhat relieved though won't feel a lot better until it's all done. Stay strong, ok? Wish I could give you a hug because I know you need it.

Thanks for the update Jess. We will all keep the prayers coming and on Friday a special prayer will be said. Gee, I've got tears in my eyes just typing this.....I can only image how you must feel.
Big {{{hugs}}}

Thanks for the update. I am glad the surgeon is leaning towards the positive and that he's seen this and done this surgery before. Please give Raven loads of hugs all week. You will both be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am glad to hear that the surgeon was so positive about her chances. I am sure he is right. More hugs and prayers being sent out from NJ for you and Raven (and Tasha and Tommy, too).
Jess, I don't know how I am just seeing this. I'm sorry I didn't offer my prayers sooner. I can't believe this is happening to poor Raven.
I know that the cancer is growing quickly, but, for the most part younger animals and people's cancer does grow faster. It's because they can heal better too. I hope you can take some comfort in that.
I will be sending some money to help with Raven. I know how it feels to have huge un-plannable vet bills and I'd love to help you.
Again, I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. You and Raven will be in my thoughts and prayers and I just know she will be ok.

Jess I'm so very glad to hear that the vet has such a good outlook for the surgery.
I lit a candle and will be keeping you all in my prayers.

I thought about you guys this morning while I was on a lay over in Minnesota on my way to CA. Glad to hear things went well with the specialist. All paws crossed Friday will go well and this will all be behind you.
I apologize for just now checking in, Jess. I've been occupied with the pups and trip planning all afternoon and decided to take a break from it. I had read the news earlier just not clearly & thoroughly.
The recent update seems to be a pretty good one to me. A new sense of hope, IMO. I'll bet it's a bit releiving for you as well. It's great that he has such a positive outlook for little Raven. She is in such good hands with him as her surgeon it seems.
I am curious as to how much they will be taking out. It seems so fascinating to me, modern veterinary and all. Isn't it amazing what they can do for our furkids nowadays?
Sorry, my mind is buzzing at the moment and I'm just babbling now.
Continued thoughts heading your way..... it's going to be a long wait for Friday!

That's greyt news from the surgeon! I know Raven is going to beat this
As for the bone/teeth loss, please give Raven a kiss for me and tell her not to worry. There was a Greyhound pup on another board who was in an accident which left him with less than half of his top jaw. It was simply gruesome to look at, but he's loving life and living each day to the fullest. It was truly inspirational, and if Raven needs a little bone taken out, give her a big hug for me and tell her she can beat it!
