Happy Birthday to Us!

On September 1 in 1997, we launched PetoftheDay.com and had no idea if it would succeed or if people would "get it" or like it or participate. And here we are, starting our 14th year of Pet of the Day, and 13th year for Dog of the Day and Cat of the Day!

We were happy when even before the launch, a few people sent nominations, and in the first year, the dogs and cats so outnumbered other kinds of pets that we gave them their own sites. We are grateful to everyone who has sent nominations in, and encourage folks to continue to do so! Tell your friends, and fellow pet lovers!

Thanks also to everyone who is part of Pet Talk, which grew out of the wish of people to be able to talk to people whose pets were featured, and has become a community with people from across the world!

I'm glad that it caught on and I hope that it'll be around for many more years to come. I'd be lost without this website.

Since 2002 I have had so much fun here, although sad times, too. Best of all, I have learned a lot about cats and made some very good friends who mean as much - or more, to me than my own family.
