Dasher has laryngial paralysis(update post 45)

I'm really scared right now. He could hardly breath. We're at the vet now. He's got to spend the night in an oxygen chamber before he can be evaluated tomorrow. There is an operation for it but its not without risks. Such as putting him under for it and then possible pneumonia afterwards. The surgeon will do xrays and such tomorrow afternoon. I'm a wreck. I wasn't expecting things this soon. If it is his time, I want him to go in his sleep. I don't want to have to make that decision again

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.

Hug you close and never let go.

Here's hoping he finds some relief, trouble breathing is no fun for anyone. You and he will be in our prayers.

Thanks so much. It means a lot. I called on the way to work to see how he was doing. He's sleeping and breathing a little easier. I had told Nancy the pet psychic that he was very sick and she wanted a pic. She got it and said he was feeling so much joy. He was saying ihe knows I love him. I don't have to keep telling him. I do that all the time. She said he is very strong mentally and he was really clear to read. She said since he had been sedated, it was hard to read his body. She also said he was 110% sure I loved him. Before he always wondered just a tiny bit, like 1%. She said he's at peace and very happy. She told me that's a gift. Most people contact her wondering if their dog loved them and was happy. She told her friend that she was feeling so happy from reading him. He's sending out such joy. Before I left him this afternoon, I opened up the door to his oxygen kennel and petted him. He perked up and looked so happy. Whatever happens at least I know he's happy and at peace.

Much thanks to you all. Last night was a hard one. I had to work. I just talked to the vet. He's doing much better. He's been off oxygen since 4 and no panting. But he hasn't been moving, either. Surgeon comes in sometime in the afternoon and he'll decide when or if the surgery is needed. I know it is. He's been panting a lot the last few days. Thanks to everyone. I know I don't get here a lot but its so good to come here. The house is so quiet today. I've got one of his favorite stuffies with me on the bed.

Oh, I am just seeing this. I am so sorry you are having to go through this Val. I will keep you and Dasher in my thoughts and hope for a quick full recovery.
