Today my lovely big girl is 11 years old!!
I remember the day I came home to find that my Aunt dropped her off at our house. It was too good to be true, I had been asking for a dog for a long, long time. My very first dog to call my own, to raise myself, I couldn't have been any happier.
The cute little lazy puppy turned in to the best, well mannered dog I could have ever hoped for.
I got her when I was 7 years old and she quickly outweighed me. We used to go rollerblading constantly, a little girl and her big ol' Rottie, and people would slow down and stare at us. Some would roll down their windows and ask me who was walking who. Those were the days.
Shadow is the love of my life and perfect in so many ways. She's getting older and it really scares me. There is something extremely special about an older dog, she is so wise and knows so much more than we give her credit for. She has picked up a few bad habits in the last couple years since we added on to the family, like tearing up stuffies and sleeping on the couch, but I couldn't love her and her silly ways any more.
I can't be with the Cow Dog on her birthday, but we'll celebrate next week for sure.
I can't even believe that she's 11 years old already, most of the time she still acts like a bouncy little 5 year old....not that I'm complaining by any means
