    Lydia is 5 months old...

where DoEs the time go?!?!? Lydia is doing great, and growing and thriving, and starting to play with toys. Her hair is starting to get a little thicker, and you can't really tell from these pics but we are thinking she is going to either be blonde or red headed. I am so hoping for the red! We just started feeding her solids, starting with cereal and bananas. She likes the bananas, but not the cereal. go figure.

Here are some pictures that I took yesterday morning:

    Thanks for letting me share!

Anna she is sooooo beautiful and getting so big. They certainly change quickly, don't they? I know that you and hubby are taking lots of pictures and I encourage you to keep doing that. One day you turn around and they are all grown!

Oh little angel Lydia you're so pretty and sweet and adorable and it's so nice to see new pictures of you! I can't believe where the time goes, either. They say they grow up too quick, but until you experience it first-hand you just have no idea how fast it happens.

Is she in size 3 diaper yet? Has she cut her first teeth yet? Quinn is in 2-3 pampers (they fit better then the 2 and the 3. I love how Pampers has the "between" sizes), but no teeth yet for Quinn. Lydia looks longer the Quinn. I'm hoping Quinn stays more like me then her daddy. Her daddy is 6'7" and I'm only 5'1", so hopefully she'll be shoter like mommy

Red heads are so adorable, she looks very much like she will end up a red head! Thanks so much for showing off new pictures. It's a pleasure seeing our little friend, Lydia. She's absolutely adorable and precious.

Thoses are some beautiful and precious pictures!!! Lydia really is growing so fast. I don't know where that time goes. I never used to understand when folks said that but when it comes to our babies -we really do experience that passage of time.

I am with Pam - that these pictures are priceless and I can only imagine how much you will enjoy them as she continues to grow. I know I love the pictures of my children and wish we had digital back then so we could have taken tons more

Thank you so much for sharing Lydia with us!! She is such a dainty looking little girl - I think her skin color looks like she may be a redhead for sure.

Thank you for the wonderful comments about my little girl

Leslie, I am actually *ahem* cloth diapering. I never ever ever EVER thought I would do this...but I am. AND, I am LOVE LOVE LOVING it!! I don't think I will switch back. They are *so* soft on her bum-bum and no more rashes (unless I eat tomato sauce ) I have only used one disposable in this past month and that was a size 2 and it still fit oK. I am thinking though I need to buy a small package of 3's 'cause I don't ever want to be "stuck" The key to it is to have a wash routine downpat. without it, I don't think it would work for us. But we wash every-other-night, and dry them the next morning.

As far as teeth go, I thought she had broken a tooth through on the bottom. It was white, hard and pointy. I pointed it to the pediatrician, and he said that it actually was an Epstein Pearl and not a tooth. I had never heard of them before. Sure enough, about a week ago, it fell off and disappeared. So, no, no teeth yet.

We think she is going to be tall like Mark's family. My MIL was 6'1 or 6'2. I'm on the shorter side (5'4"), too...but Lydia's legs are so long so I don't think she is gonna be like me.

    Oh my

Gosh, she has grown, hasn't she? She looks like Mark, yes? What a cute and happy little girl you have there. More photos would be nice!

Sorry I didn't get to meet her a couple of months ago, when Vermontcat went to visit. I have a hectic schedule these days.

Is it real expensive to get started with cloth? I have been wanting to do cloth but am worried about the initial expense. How many, aproximately, do I need to buy to get started with it? I like Pampers because they have a slight scent and because they're SOOO soft, but they're so expensive and I'd really rather go cloth. I'd love to switch to cloth as much as possible, these disposables are so expensive and since Quinn is breast fed, she poops a bunch, so I go threw so many of them

Hi Leslie, yes, there is quite a bit of expense to get up and running with cloth. But it depends on what level of convenience you want. For example you can go with prefolds & snappis (the old kind with a substitute for pins) and it won't be that expensive. Or you can go with All-in-ones (exactly like disposables, just washable) and the cost will be much, much higher.

For me, I went middle of the road with pocket diapers. They are basically a shell with a pocket that you stuff with an insert (microfiber or hemp). My two favorites are Fuzzi Bunz and Happy Heinies brands. What I did to start out with was get a one day supply, and wash every evening. I started out with 9 diapers total, and if I ran out, I would use a disposable. Then gradually every paycheck, I saved enough $ for 1 diaper and then ordered a couple at a time to save on shipping costs.

The way I think about it is that for every time I use a cloth, I am not spending $.25 on a disposable, saving roughly $2.25 per day/. It does NOT take long to add up!! And in a couple of months I will break even, and then diapering will be free from that point on (besides the cost of washing them.) Also you can change them AS OFTEN as you like -- only been an hour and you are headed out? change her anyway!

I bought my fuzzi bunz at www.fuzzibunzseconds.net, and they are only $12 there. I bought 4 of them, and you cannot notice that they are imperfect in any way at all!!! They do not come with an insert though, so you need to buy them somewhere else. I think emibeans has a package of 10 for $20. The microfiber inserts are great for day time, and then I double up with a hemp insert for overnight. You can also stuff the diapers w/prefolds but they make for a bulky diaper.

(I bought my happy heinies and other diapers at www.emibeans.com and they have very reasonable prices there.

I could go on and on with websites that I love and what I have learned. If you have any questions at all please let me know!!! It can be a little overwhelming at first!

ETA: the other thing I decided is that Lydia is just at the start of the medium size, and that is the only size I am going to invest in. THey say that many times babies will go directly from medium to potty training, which I am hoping will be the case for us.
