It's International Guide Dog Day! (last Wednesday in April)

I have about a zillion favorite patients from my time as a staff nurse. One of them had a helper dog. They came to my unit to say hello when he was attending an outpatient appointment. The dog was super smart and they made a perfect team.

My other favorite helper dog story ... there used to be a family at my church that helped to train a helper dog by bringing him to church. He did great 99.95% of the time. He only had one "blooper". One Sunday he barked during church - the family was so embarrassed but the entire congregation smiled and laughed! It was so cute! Our pastor (who's a dog lover) laughed, looked right at him and thanked him for his "input"! He was so cute and so good. People always wanted to pet him and the family would allow it for short periods.
