    Tubby's vet visit

Hi all, it's been another one of those hectic weeks around here, but I wanted to let you know how Tubby's vet visit went on Saturday.

The vet finally called with the blood test results, and I'm happy to report that "his blood test results were wonderful!" (her words) She even said one of his kidney levels is down from last time. I got a copy of the blood test and the BUN is up from 39 to 41, but the Creatinine is down from 3.2 to 2.8! She said everything else looked real good and even when she saw him she said he looked real good for such an old guy. So I guess my old guy is going to be around for awhile yet - yipee!!!!

Now for a little story. We were in the waiting room, with Tubby on his leash on my lap. A guy came in with the most adorable little Boxer puppy, all bouncy and excited. Tubby seemed interested, so I asked the guy if I put Tubby on the floor if he'd let the puppy get close to see what Tubby would do. Well....the first attempt the guy let the puppy get too close and he/she started climbing all over Tubby! But the only protest Tubby made was when I pulled him away from the puppy! The guy then kept the puppy at a little bit of a distance. It was so cute because he/she was just so bouncy and excited and doing little yips at Tubby and doing that thing where they crouch down on their front legs with their butt in the air - sooo cute! Anyway, Tubby just sat and watched the puppy. Never made a move to swat him/her or hiss or anything. Another lady there with a scared tuxie cat glued to the back of his/her carrier couldn't believe how calm Tubby was. Neither could I or the guy with the puppy. It was just too cute and I so wish I had my camera.

I think Tubby needs a puppy.......

Oh, and she gave me some Cosequin for Cats for him. It's a supplement for his joints. I mentioned how it seems like he's a little stiff and asked her about arthritis. She gave me the Cosequin and said it should help, but since it's a supplement and not a drug, it might be up to 6 weeks before I notice any results. He's just been slipping more and it seems a little more unsteady on his feet than usual. The good news is this stuff must taste good because he just laps it up (it's a powder I put on his wet food in the morning) and Peanut will even come over and clean up his plate, which is doubly amazing since she doesn't like the wet food that he gets. So if picky Peanut says it's good - it's gotta be good.

    Way to go Tubby!
His new medicine sounds like my Glucosamine. It took a few weeks before it started helping me. I hope he does real well on his new medicine.

What kind of puppy would he like to have, do you think?

    Debbie, Debbie, Debbie......

Don't you know that when you signed up for Pet Talk you also agreed to carry a camera wherever you go???

So glad Tubby is in good health. I really need to get Speckles in again for blood tests but I have to save up for it.

Oh, and about getting Tubby a puppy, better check with the Princess Peanut first. We wouldn't want any hurt feelings....

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Debbie, that is good news about Tubby. Amazing how he acted with the puppy! You don't see that very often. Grover and Stubby would have their claws dug deep into me!

It is a shame you didn't have a camera with you, I know that would have been some good pictures!

Anyway great news for Tubby and you.

Thank You, kittycats_delight for my new siggy!!!

That's such good news about Tubby. Keep up the good work sweetie.
I just love it also when a dog goes into play mode, with the front down and the butt up.
It must have been so cute to see the puppy crawling on Tubby.

I'm so glad to hear that Tubby is in excellent health. This is the kind of vet visit that I like to hear about.
Since Terry has already told you no more cats, maybe he wouldn't mind it if you brought home a puppy.
