    shedding

Ashley sheds sooooo much. All the time. I recently bought one of those plastic glove brushes. I swear I am emptying that thing like 100x and still fur is flying. Any recomendations?

Also, I may be getting another kitty. Is there a kind that don't shed as much?

I swear, sometimes I think I am allergic to her. Usually when my allergies are acting up, then shes included. But when they are fine, she don't effect me.

first, about allergies. they are cumulative (as you are finding out) the more you are allergic too, the worse each one is. And when one acts up, they all come into play.

A professional grooming with a bath and blow dry will help her to shed all that fur better than just a dry brushing.

Some cats will shed less than others, but it is kinda trial and error. I find that sleek coated cats (fur lies close to the skin and isn't too thick) seem to she less. Some long haired cats will actually shed LESS than their short hair counterparts.

You may wish to try Aller-cat or similar product that goes on the cat (about once a week) and it is suppose to remove the dander (which is the allergen...it isn't actually the FUR you are allergic to)

    Good luck.

I use a slicker brush on Julie and that keeps her coat pretty 'fresh'. She isn't a bad shedder so she is easy to keep the loose hair in her coat brushed out.
Its also nice that she is not a big shedder as she very rarely has any hairballs to yak up.
She is just your average short haired domestic tabby cat.

I've actually been wondering the same thing since CJ sheds like you would not believe!!! I thought Tubby was bad but CJ sheds 10 times worse than Tubby! And yes, they both shed more than Peanut who has the longer hair - I always thought that was odd.

The problem is CJ does not like to be brushed and I can only hold him down so long and he acts like I'm torturing him. And even though he's getting the hairball formula food, he still gets huge hairballs relatively often.

So....since he's still having a bit of diarrhea problems, I was going to start investigating different foods that will help his coat and his tummmy. Any suggestions? I'd prefer a senior formula so Peanut could partake too. She doesn't have diarrhea problems but a good food that would help her coat wouldn't be a bad thing for her either.

I had Max on Nutro Natural but he was hacking up hairballs left and right - and by the way he is medium long haired and doesn't shed little hair everywhere like my short haired Meka does. HE just shedds where he lays - you can brush up a huge hairball from where he sleeps and lays.... So anyway - I changed him to Iams Adult and then I get my hands wet and pet him. It is amazing how much comes off with wet hands and he seems a lot cleaner. He is NOT hacking up hairballs at all and his stool is a lot better and not so smelly. Meka is on Nutro Natural still as that is the only thing that keeps her regular and not diarrea and she doesn't have problems with hairballs since she sheds everywhere!!!! Debbie
