    Can gerbils attract mice?

I have a 6 month old gerbil, named Sam (as u all know) and I was wondering, can rodents (such as gerbils) kept as pets attract mice into your home? We have just recently found out that we have mice becuase a whole bag of choclate chips in our basement was totally empty and had little chew marks all over it. I am really not sure if they know my gerbil is in the house or not. Anybody know anything about this?
    Thanks,
    Andrea

Cute pictures, are those your dogs Andrea?

I don't think that the mice will know that Sam is there. I think the only way they would know was if you had a few and you let them run around your house at will, leaving droppings etc.

Thanks Heather. Nope, those arent my doggies. I want one though! I dont let sam out, well not on the floor, but I do take her out of the cage. They are coming from the basement somewhere are we are trying to find out where they are coming from.
