Tyler was the sheltie where I used to work, the barkiest little furball you'd ever hope to meet. He was a tricolor boy, a little on the small side. He was a good dog at heart though, just a little neurotic, and didn't really know he was a dog. The closest he ever got to playing with another dog was when another dog would consent to be herded - being a sheltie, he took herding quite seriously. He got sick last night and was taken to the vet, where they found a large and inoperable tumor, so he was put to sleep this morning. I got an email from the coworker he 'adopted' after I left, who wanted to let me know.
Tyler barked at trucks outside, people in the hallway, the doorbell, he barked for alarm, for joy, and just for the sake of barking. He'd eat anything he could get, including non-edibles that had touched foodstuffs, and was never above raiding office trashcans. The world will now be a quieter, slightly sadder place.
