    Need Info on Crested Gecko's!

I've been thinking about getting a reptile for a while and have been for 2 months now, I've been reading and reading on a hole bunch of reptiles that don't require live food sometimes if not at all, some crazy people suggested iguanas since they eat veggies and fruits most of the time but that was a big NO because they can get so big and agressive. I was thinking about getting a corn snake but my mom is not too fond of snakes lol. Today a person e-mailed me saying crested geckos don't require live food and they can eat powder diets that you mix with water... although I'd still buy my gecko live insects at least once a week or more. So this is not a for sure YES I'm going to buy a crested gecko it's just a thought,

So if anyone has any information on housing them ect... please let me know!

    Thanks so much!

My two crested geckos Teun and Lava are crazy about hunting for crickets. Maybe they don't need them but they live to hunt. Taking that away would be cruel I think and take away their fun in living....

Besides that issue they are beautiful friendly geckos

You should talk to ramantha she has 2 (maybe 3).

I had 3 before and they should be eating crickets coating in powdered calcium but they also need baby food. They can be a bit tricky to keep their diet balanced.

I have 4 crested geckos. It is true that you can feed Cresteds only a diet of Repashy Superfoods (same as the T-Rex product found in stores - I buy it in bulk from a local Crested breeder) and cut out the crickets. This makes them ideal first time reptiles for kids of parents who are squeamish about insects.

I feed mine mainly the Repashy food and give them crickets as treats primarily in the summer months. In the winter months they tend to slow down and not actively hunt the crickets.

They are comfortable in ambient heat (my apartment is around 70 degrees in the winter so I don't use supplemental heat) and they like a humidity of 60 - 80%.

This is a great forum that can answer all your crested gecko questions:

Thanks so much for all the info,

I'm still thinking about them, they seem pretty simple to look after.

I was still looking into corn snakes since my mom can touch & handle them lol.

The set up you have for your crested geckos looks great and wild for them.

Your welcome. I have a corn snake as well, so I recommend both.
