Found what could be best described as bloody phlegm in Kia's crate. She won't touch food or treats and is pretty mopey.

She's in to see the vet later today. Hoping it's just a scratched throat or upset tummy. Fingers crossed that it's NOT her lungs.

{{HUGE HUGS}}} that sounds scary, and hopefully the vet can tell you exactly what is going on. The not-knowing is sometimes the hardest. Please keep us posted, and I'm going to haunt this thread until you come back.

Well, I wish I had better news.

Dr. Kuschel looked at the sample I brought under the microscope and discerned that the mucus came from her nose.

She took a look at Kia's nose (something Kia did not like ) and confirmed that the left nasal passage is irritated.

She's real concerned with the amount of blood Kia sneezed out.

Dr. Kuschel mentioned the possibility of cancer. She did not want to take this lightly and recommended I have the sample sent to MSU for a cytology report. They will be able to tell if there is bacteria, or infection, or abnormal cells.

They also drew blood for a full panel to check Kia's kidneys and other organs.

Her appetite has not been great this winter and she's been sneezing quite a bit.

The blood test results will be ready tomorrow morning. The cytology report will be back in 7-10 days.

Just a waiting game at this point. Dr. Kuschel said to keep my chin up and try not to worry. Easier said than done.
