    Daisy - update post 43

We had to take Daisy to the vet on Monday. Over the weekend she became very wheezy and stopped eating. Daisy has never stopped eating before through any medical condition. She loves her food.

The vet could not hear very much as Daisy was wheezing so badly. She is terrified of going to the vet and the stress was making her pant, but there seemed to be fluid in her lungs. What the vet didn’t know was whether it was coming from an infection or possibly a heart condition. A slight heart murmur was detected when she had her annual boosters last year.

We had her at the vet two weeks ago to get ointment for her eye condition that flares up every now and again. At that time the murmur was no worse and her chest was clear.

So they did some tests. Her liver and kidney results were good, so they gave her a very light anaesthetic and took chest xrays. Some blood has been sent away to a lab for a specialist heart test, which was explained to me, but I don’t remember what it will show. The xray showed up a shadow on one lung. It is not clear whether that is being caused by an infection, a heart condition, or something else. The xrays are now being studied by a specialist laboratory.

Daisy was in an oxygen tent for 15 minutes before we took her home and she seemed to perk up a bit after that. She also got an antibiotic injection. She has been drinking and yesterday she ate about a third of a portion of dried food. She wouldn’t touch fresh chicken last night.

I’ll keep you updated as and when I get the test results.

    Feel better soon Daisy.

If her chest was clear only two weeks ago it may well be an infection. Give her big kisses from me

    Prayers for daisy

One of my cats in the UK, called Hansel presented like this with severe wheezing & very out of sorts - took him to the vet & he told me Hansel had asthma, due to the spring weather we were experiencing - gave him a steroid shot & he was right as rain in a couple of days. Hope Daisy has something simple like that & nothing serious - all the best to you & Daisy.

Oh Karen this is just so upsetting for all of us and especially you. Prayers on the way for Daisy.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Oh poor Daisy! I hope the x-rays will show it's nothing serious. Hopefully, the antibiotic will clear it up. Glad to hear her liver and kidney results were good.

Please give Daisy some kisses from me - Fister sends purrs.

That's very frightening, but you're doing right by Daisy and it sounds hopeful. I wish Daisy love and a complete and quick turn around to wellness!
