If THIS doesn't put me over the edge, NOTHING will...UPDATE W/PIC

NEW BRITAIN — A city man is free on bond following his arrest on charges he killed three cats and seriously injured four others by throwing them off an outdoor staircase and then beating the animals that survived.

Stanislaw Ternacki, 63, of 235 Washington St. allegedly tossed the animals off an exterior staircase in an attempt to help the landlord at the address keep the cats off the property, police said.

Neighbors called police around 1:15 p.m. Friday to report they witnessed a man throw several cats from a staircase and then go downstairs to beat the animals with a stick, acting police Capt. James Wardwell said.

“They said he was throwing the cats so hard they weren’t moving,” Wardwell said. “He then beat the animals with a stick while they lay injured.”
When officers arrived they found a dead cat in the garbage and six others that had been severely injured hiding the area of the apartment building. Two of the cats that were found later died, Wardwell said.

A tenant had been evicted from a first-floor apartment at 237 Washington St. and left the animals behind. The landlord asked for help with removing the cats but claimed she didn’t know how Ternacki would handle the matter, police said. She has not been charged in the incident.

Ternacki was charged Friday with seven counts of cruelty to animals and breach of peace. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court Dec 9. Each of the charges is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

    Oh my

I just wonder how much more stupid one could get. How cruel. The court should beat him, toss him down the steps then beat him with a stick, like he did to the cats.

I hope he rots in hell. What a sick...... *^%$..... low life, no-good, idiot.

I wish I lived closer to you and I would visit the court for his hearing, assuming he will have one.

My friend drove by the apartment building where the cats were tossed from. The drop was only about 4 steps, which means he must've slammed those cats with everything he had.

I've been on the phone and the computer for hours. This is really going to be big. As big as the Adonis case.

How cruel. The court should beat him, toss him down the steps then beat him with a stick, like he did to the cats.
And they should do it seven times! One for each cat. How sad it is.

I was going to post this last night, but I needed to take a little "time out".

This guy, his landlord (who posted his bail AND hired him a bottom-feeder to defend him) and an English speaking girl were there. He snuck into the courthouse while we were protesting outside. They had at least 2 dozen cops and barricades up. It was peaceful.

I went into the courthouse corridor and there he was, hiding behind a black baseball hat. I walked up to him and said, "You're a cat killer!!! You need to go to jail!!"

It was continued to 2 pm in order to get a Polish translator. What put me over the edge was when he got a POLICE ESCORT into the courthouse!!!! I went off on him. Channel 3, 30, 8 and Fox 61 News were there, and got it all on tape.

When they interviewed me, I told them the prosecuting attorneys and judges need to start listening to the statistics and prosecuting these cases as a felony.

It's been continued to January 17th. He pled not guilty and requested a jury trial.

His lawyer was also interviewed and said his client was attacked by the cats. Well, YEAH!!! Cats that feel threatened and are provoked, such as being slammed to the pavement from a stairwell WILL fight back. I'm glad he got bit.

I'll try to post the links to the video interviews.

Oh how awful. What a dirtbag. May he get what he deserves.

I heard on the news that a guy was charged with animal cruelty for "kicking his kitten like a football" after a neighbor witnessed him trying to drop-kick the kitten and called the police. He probably won't get a very severe punishment and that is what sends me almost over the edge.

Apparently you can still be a UIC student even if you commit a crime. This makes me so mad I just want to scream.

    From today's Chicago Tribune---

Cook County prosecutors said today that charges were upgraded against a University of Illinois at Chicago student accused of pouring boiling water over his dog last year after the pet urinated on the floor.

Bond was set at $100,000 for Kyle Voissem, 20, by Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil on the felony charge of animal cruelty.

Voissem, who is from West Allis, Wis., was arrested in December and charged then with a misdemeanor after the Anti-Cruelty Society lodged a complaint against him with police.

According to prosecutors, the UIC senior was boiling water to make macaroni and cheese for dinner at his home in the 1700 block of South Desplaines Street in mid-October when he saw his dog urinate on the floor. He threw the boiling water at the pup, causing severe burns to the animal.

The dog was described in the Anti-Cruelty Society report as a 1 ˝-year-old “mountain cur mix.”

The pet was put up for adoption after treatment for second-degree burns over 50 percent of its body and third-degree burns on its neck.

Byron the dog will turn 2 in March and was adopted in late October, 2011, according to Anti-Cruelty Society spokeswoman Trisha Trinco.

“He is in a new loving home, which is really good,’’ Trinco said.

Police said the dog was burned in mid-October, of 2011.

Voissem, a UIC senior, was on the school’s gymnastics team, but was suspended and later required to leave the team following his arrest, according to his attorney, Will Fahy. He has no criminal record.

UIC spokesman Bill Burton confirmed Voissem has not participated in the gymnastics team since the arrest and was dismissed from the team yesterday.

Voissem is still a student, however, Burton said.

A short biography on the school’s website said he is majoring in criminal justice.

Stanislaw Ternacki applied for AR (acclerated rehabilitation). If approved (the Judge didn't look very happy about it), he'll have to stay out of trouble for a year. At the end of the year, if he stays clean, his record will be expunged!

Spoke with an inside source about sending the judge a letter pleading her not to grant the application. He wanted to know who the judge was. He told me she is a staunch animal lover and even adopted a rescue golden retriever. This can be a good thing. I asked him if she received letters would she consider them. He told me to write it up and he'll make SURE she receives it.

Judge Strathbein kept looking over at us as we PLEADED to her with our eyes to NOT approve it. He has to be evaluated first to determine whether or not he's eligible.

Next court date is April 6th.

When I read this, I got upset all over again because of this extreme act of cruelty. What about those poor kitties? I can't begin to comprehend how scared they must have been watching their kitty friends being tossed and killed wondering if the same thing would happen to them. These cats were living, breathing beings capable of feeling love and in this despicable situation feeling unbelievable pain!

I'm happy to know the judge is a staunch animal lover. I only hope her decision gives the brutalized cats justice! Please let us know what happens?
